Advisory Opinion request regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics prohibits a councilman from maintaining existing contracts with the Parish School Board if he is elected as Parish President.
Facts:
Justin Metz is considering running for West Feliciana Parish President. He currently serves as West Feliciana Parish Councilman for District D. He currently has a contractual relationship with the West Feliciana Parish School Board in his individual capacity that he would like to maintain if elected.
Law:
La. R.S. 42:1113A prohibits public servants and their immediate family members and legal entities from transacting with the public servant's own agency.

Ethics Board Docket No 2025-465: 1113 provides that public servants may not enter into transactions with their own agency, but may transact freely with other agencies.

Recommendations:
Adopt proposed AO.
