| Advisory Opinion regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics prohibits the Chief of Police of the Town of Cullen from serving as a resource office for another city. |

Denise Epps-Hoof is a
councilwoman for the Town of Cullen. Ms. Epps-Hoof recently requested this same
opinion to the Attorney General as to whether the Chief of Police for the Town
of Cullen can also serve as a police officer in the City of Springhill and also
a patrol and resource officer for Brown Upper School. The Attorney General
concluded that the Dual Officeholding was permissible. Now, Ms. Epps-Hoof
would like to know whether there are any violations to this dual office holding
in accordance with the Code.

Rule 601 of the Rules for the Louisiana Board of Ethics provides that the Board shall receive requests for advisory opinions
filed with it by "affected persons." Further, Rule 601 provides that the Board
may decline to render an opinion with regard to any such request. Rule 101.B
defines "affected person" to mean any person or governmental agency, or the
authorized representative of such persons or agency with a demonstrable and
objective interest in the Board's interpretation, construction, and application
of any law within the Board's jurisdiction.
