Randy Thomas is currently employed on a part-time basis with the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office as the Clerk of the Works for capital outlay projects. Mr. Thomas's son, Terry Thomas, is the owner of K&M Project Services, LLC, a civil engineering firm located within Cameron Parish. The Sheriff's Office is considering transacting with K&M Project Services, LLC, to perform work related to capital outlay projects.

La. R.S. 42:1113A(1)(a)
prohibits a public servant, excluding any legislator and any appointed member of any board of commission and any member of a governing authority of a parish with a population of ten thousand or less, or member of such a public servant's immediate family, or legal entity in which he has a controlling interest from bidding on or entering into any contract, subcontract, or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
BOE Docket No. 2026-062: A company owned by an LSU Accounting instructor is permitted to contract with LSU outside of the Accounting Department.
BOE Docket No. 2025-670: The Code does not prohibit a company owned by the Fire Chief from entering into contracts with the Town that are unrelated to the fire department and are not under the fire department's jurisdiction.
