The Louisiana Municipal Gas Authority is a political subdivision of the state of Louisiana. It was created pursuant to La. R.S. 33:4546.1, et seq. Pursuant to the enabling statute, the Louisiana Municipal Gas Authority shall have all rights and powers necessary to carry out and effectuate the purposes and provisions of the statute. The enabling statute also authorizes the Louisiana Municipal Gas Authority to adopt bylaws or rules for the regulation of its affairs and the conduct of its business.
The Louisiana Municipal Gas Authority has proposed to adopt a policy setting forth how it will pay its board members a per diem for their attendance at board and committee meetings. The Louisiana Municipal Gas Authority seeks an opinion on the appropriateness of paying this per diem to its board members.
