The Concordia Parish Recreation District
#1 requests an advisory opinion as to whether the Code prohibits the Invoice
and Payroll Clerk for the Concordia Parish Policy Jury from simultaneous employment as the Secretary for the Concordia Parish Recreation District #1, which is
within the organization of the Police Jury. The Police Jury has sole authority to appoint and remove
Recreation District board members, and both positions are compensated.

La. R.S. 42:1111A(1)(a) prohibits a public servant from
receiving anything of economic value, other than compensation and benefits from
the governmental entity to which he is duly entitled, for the performance of
the duties and responsibilities of his office or position.
