Objection to Candidacy lawsuits were filed against the following candidates: Kia Converse - Assumption Parish: Lawsuit filed; Candidate agreed to withdraw/disqualification; Suit dismissed without hearing.

Gaddis Gary Glosson - Morehouse Parish: Lawsuit filed; Hearing held on Tuesday 8/18 (Charles, Tracy, and David). Candidate agreed to be disqualified; Judgment granted.

Abraham McCleon - Allen Parish: Lawsuit filed; Hearing held on Monday 8/17 (Charles and Jessica); Candidate disqualified; Judgment granted.

John Russell McGrew, Sr. - Caddo Parish: Lawsuit filed; Hearing held on Monday 8/17 (Tracy and David); Candidate disqualified; Judgment granted.

Marc Edwin Mercer - Rapides Parish: Lawsuit filed; Hearing was scheduled for Wednesday 8/19. Staff discovered discrepancies in the certified mail receipts that led to doubts as to whether he received the required notices. As such, the suit was dismissed at my request. We have confirmed receipt of the notices with Mr. Mercer through his attorney, and served him with additional Notices of Deficiency that were pending. Mr. Mercer remains a candidate.

Gholamali Moghimi - Ouachita Parish: Lawsuit filed; Hearing held on Tuesday 8/18 (Tracy and David); Candidate disqualified; Judgment granted.

Carlton Myles - Webster Parish: Lawsuit filed; Candidate agreed to withdraw/disqualification; Suit dismissed without hearing.

Virgil Penn, Sr. - Morehouse Parish: Lawsuit filed; Hearing held on Tuesday 8/18 (Charles, Tracy, and David). Judgment denied Board's disqualification challenge, but also gave Mr. Penn twenty-four hours to pay the $500 fee and re-qualify. Staff filed an appeal to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, which is scheduled for oral arguments on August 26th. The Secretary of State has joined in that appeal due to the improper order to re-qualify after the close of the qualifying period.

Lawrence Gum Richard - St. Landry Parish: Lawsuit filed; Hearing held on Friday 8/14 (Charles and Kelsey); Candidate disqualified; Judgment granted.

Assigned Attorney: David Bordelon
