~ r I <br /> thousand eight hundred twenty-four dollars and thirty-two cents ($1,824.32) between December <br /> 8, 2016 and February 9, 2417. <br /> 4. <br /> In order to conceal the personal purchases on the Fifth ward Elementary School Sam's <br /> Club credit card, Michelle Dennis crafted forms to make the purchases appear to be authorized <br /> charges for approved school materials. <br /> 5. <br /> An internal audit conducted by the Fifth Ward Elementary School determined that Ms. <br /> Dennis had not deposited a total of fourteen thousand eight hundred six dollars and thirty cents <br /> ($14,846.32) worth of funds relating to fundraising or school activities related to the Fifth ward <br /> Elementary School from October of 2014 to February of 2017. <br /> 6. <br /> According to Fifth Ward Elementary School procedure, funds were to remain in Michelle <br /> Dennis' sole custody and control at all times. The $14,806.32 worth of funds collected by <br /> Michelle Dennis related to fundraising or school activities were converted to her own personal <br /> funds. <br /> 7. <br /> La. R.S. 42:1111A(1)(a) provides that no public servant shall receive anything of <br /> economic value, other than compensation and benefits from the governmental entity to which he <br /> is duly entitled, for the performance of the duties and responsibilities of his office or position. <br /> 8. <br /> Based on the foregoing facts, Michelle Dennis, while serving as clerk for the Fifth Ward <br /> Elementary School within St. John the Baptist School System, violated La. R.S. 42-9111A(1)(a) <br /> 2 <br />
