Bass: <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics, at its meeting on June 6, 2025, considered your ret�uest for an <br /> advisory opinion as to whether the Code of Governmental Ethies ("Code") prohibits you from <br /> renewing your pubiic tag agent license with the State of Louisiana while serving as a Senator. <br /> The Board noted that you previously withdrew this request at the meeting on January 10,2025, to <br /> receive guidance on the renewal process. You've asked that the Boa�rd consider the request at this <br /> time. <br /> FncTs P�ov�n�n <br /> Yau were elected as Senator—District 36 in 2023. You took office on January 8, 2024, with you�• <br /> current term ending on January 10,2028, <br /> You are the owner of North LA Tag LLC,which is an authorized public tag agent with the State of <br /> Louisiana pursuant to La. R.S. 47:532.1. Tag agents collect vehicle registration license fees, as <br /> well as applicable sales and use taxes,ta issue registration certificates and license plates ta vehicles <br /> and rnator vehicles.You were approved as a public tag agent prior to your election as Senator.The <br /> renewal as a tag agent occurs every other year and requires you to subznit a renewal application to <br /> the Office of Motor Vehicles within fihe Department of Public Safety. The application is processed <br /> using the same requirements that are applicable ta all public tag agent applicants.You ask whet��er <br /> the Code prohibits you from renewing your application as a public tag agent with the Offiee of <br /> Mator Vehicles. <br /> LAWV <br /> La.R.S.42:1113D{1{a)(i)pravides that na le�islator or any legal entity of such a person shall enter <br /> into any contract with state government. La. R.S. 42:1113D(1}{a)(iii) defines "legal entity of <br /> person" as any legal entity in which the legislator owns an interest greater than 5%. La.
