LOUISIANA BOARD OF ETHICS <br />CONSENT OPINION <br />BD NO: 2022-062 <br />RE: IN THE MATTER OF GORDON ATWELL AND ASHLEY VAN DER MEULEN <br />The Louisiana Board of Ethics (the "BOE"), pursuant to the authority contained in the <br />Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics (the "Ethics Code"), La. R.S. 42:1101, et. seq., and <br />particularly Section 1141 of the Ethics Code, conducted a confidential investigation concerning <br />information that each of Gordon Atwell and Ashley van der Meulen, in their capacities as members <br />of the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors (the "LSBHI"), a) may have violated Section <br />1111 C(2)(d) of the Ethics Code by virtue of receiving compensation for providing continuing <br />education services to persons who conduct operations or activities which are regulated by the <br />LSBHI and b) may have violated Section 1113B of the Ethics Code by virtue of his application to <br />the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors for approval to be a continuing education provider. <br />On the basis of information obtained during the investigation, and with the concurrence of <br />Gordon Atwell and Ashley van der Meulen, the BOE, Gordon Atwell and Ashley van der Meulen <br />enter into this Consent Opinion as follows: <br />I. <br />PARTIES: <br />The Parties hereto are: <br />Gordon Atwell, a person of the full age of majority, domiciled in the Parish <br />of Livingston with the last known address of 35635 Woodland Ridge Drive, <br />Denham Springs, Louisiana 70706; <br />Ashley van der Meulen, a person of the full age of majority, domiciled in <br />the Parish of Jefferson with the last known address of 1249 Papworth <br />
