Box 451 <br /> Hayes, Louisiana 70646 <br /> Re: Docket No. 2025-126 <br /> Advisory Opinion <br /> Dear Ms. Zaunbrecher: <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics, at its meeting on May 2, 2025, considered your request for an <br /> advisoiy opinion as to whether the Code of Governmental Ethics ("Code") prohibits you or your <br /> business from providing embroidery and sewing services to the Calcasieu Parish School District, <br /> Iowa High/Middle School, or any other school within the Calcasieu Parish School District upon <br /> your retirement fi-om the Calcasieu Parish School District as aiz Assistant Principal at Iowa <br /> High/Middle School. <br /> FACTS PROVIDED <br /> You are curreiltly etnployed by the Calcasieu Parish School District as an Assistant Principal at <br /> Iowa High/Middle School. You will be retiring from your public employment as of June 25, 2025. <br /> You are also the sole owner of Rachel's Stitches, LLC. Your business provides embroidery and <br /> sewing services, which are services you have not provided as an Assistant Principal at Iowa <br /> Higl�/Middle School for the Calcasieu Parish School District. After your retireinent, you will <br /> continue to provide embroidery and sewing services through your business, Rachel's Stitches, <br /> LLC. <br /> You would like to lcnow whether you or your business is permitted to provide embroidery and <br /> sewing services to the Calcasieu Parish School District, Iowa High/Middle School, or any other <br /> school within the Calcasieu Parish School District for compensation iminediately following your <br /> retirement. <br /> Law <br /> La. R.S. 42:1121B(1) provides that no former public employee shall, for a period of two years <br /> following the termination of his public employment, assist another person, for compensation, in a <br /> transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction in which such former public <br /> employee participated at any time during his public employment and involving the goverrunental <br /> entity by which he was forn7erly employed, or for a period of two years following termination of <br /> his public employment, render, any service which such former public employee had rendered to <br /> the agency during the term of his public employinent on a contractual basis, regardless of the <br /> parties to the contract, to, for, or on behalf of the agency with which he was formerly employed. <br /> Page 1 of 3 (BD 2025-126) <br /> AN EQUAL OPPORTUN/TY EMPLOYER <br />
