LOUISIANA BOARD OF ETHICS <br /> CONSENT OPINION <br /> DATE: BD NO: 2022-444 <br /> RE: IN THE MATTER OF KAREN CARTER PETERSON <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics (the "BOE"), in its capacity as the Supervisory Committee <br /> on Campaign Finance Disclosure, pursuant to the authority contained in the Campaign Finance <br /> Disclosure Act(hereinafter referred to as the"CFDA"), La. R.S. 18:1481,et. seq.,and particularly <br /> Section 1511.4 of the CFDA, conducted a confidential investigation concerning information that <br /> Karen Carter Peterson, in her capacity as a candidate for State Senator, 5th Senatorial District, in <br /> the October 12, 2019 election, and in her capacity as chairperson of Louisiana Democrats, a <br /> political committee a) may have violated Section 1505.2I of the CFDA by using campaign <br /> contributions for personal use unrelated to her campaign, and b) may have violated Section <br /> 1505.1 C of the CFDA by filing inaccurate campaign finance disclosure reports. <br /> On the basis of information obtained during the investigation, and with the concurrence of <br /> Karen Carter Peterson, the BOE and Karen Carter Peterson enter into this Consent Opinion as <br /> follows: <br /> I. <br /> PARTIES: <br /> The Parties hereto are: <br /> Karen Carter Peterson, a person of the full age of majority, domiciled in <br /> the Parish of Orleans with the last known address of 2336 Valence Street, <br /> New Orleans, Louisiana 70115 and <br />
