Ethics Board Docket No. 2017-1404 <br /> Page 2 of 10 <br /> JURISDICTION• <br /> 1. <br /> The BOE is an agency of the State of Louisiana domiciled in East Baton Rouge Parish, <br /> Louisiana. <br /> 2. <br /> The BOE is authorized to offer a Consent Opinion to Brian Pope by virtue of Section <br /> 1141C(3)(f) of the Ethics Code. <br /> FINDINGS OF FACT: <br /> 1. <br /> Brian Pope was elected to the office of City Marshal, City Court, City of Lafayette, Parish <br /> of Lafayette on December 6, 2014, and was commissioned on January 1,2015. <br /> 2. <br /> Pursuant to La.R.S. 13:188 IA,the marshal is the executive officer of the court.The Office <br /> of the Marshal (the"Marshal's Office") exists as an office within the City Court of Lafayette (the <br /> "City Court").Accordingly,the City Court and the Marshal's Office are each the"agency"of Mr. <br /> Pope as defined by Section 1102(2)(a)(vi)of the Ethics Code. <br /> 3. <br /> In accordance with La.R.S. 13:1883A(6),the Lafayette Consolidated Government adopted <br /> a budget setting Mr. Pope annual compensation as City Marshal at $81,438 for fiscal year 2014- <br /> 2015.
