Ethics Board Docket No. 2022-434 <br /> Page 8 of 13 <br /> Roberts, while serving as a member of the LSBHI, received compensation for providing <br /> continuing education classes. <br /> If this matter proceeded to a public hearing before the Ethics Adjudicatory Board, and the <br /> Ethics Adjudicatory Board found a violation of the Ethics Code, the Ethics Adjudicatory Board <br /> could impose a fine of up to $10,000 for each violation of the Ethics Code, pursuant to Section <br /> 1153B of the Ethics Code. The Ethics Adjudicatory Board could also impose penalties equal to <br /> one-and-a-half times the amount of economic advantage gained, pursuant to Section 1155A of <br /> the Ethics Code. In this particular situation, it is the conclusion of the Board that the interest of <br /> the public would be served by, and the parties have agreed to resolving this matter amicably <br /> through the publication of this Consent Opinion with the imposition of a $1,000 civil penalty <br /> against Scott Hearne, the imposition of a$1,000 civil penalty against Frederick Williams and the <br /> imposition of a$1,500 civil penalty against Michael Roberts. <br /> 31. <br /> ORDER: <br /> For the foregoing reasons: <br /> IT IS ORDERED that each of Scott Hearne,Frederick Williams and Michael Roberts, in <br /> their capacities as members of the LSBHI violated Section 1111C(2)(d) of the Ethics Code by <br /> virtue of receiving compensation for providing continuing education services to persons who <br /> conduct operations or activities which are regulated by the LSBHI. <br /> IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Michael Roberts, in his capacity as a member of the <br /> LSBHI, violated Section 1113B of the Ethics Code virtue of his application to the LSBHI for <br /> approval to be a continuing education provider. <br /> IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a $1,000 civil penalty, payable to the Treasurer of <br />
