<br /> La. R.S. 42:1121A(l) provides that no former agency head or elected otf cial shall, ior a period

<br /> elected public official serving in such agency, assist another person, for compensation, in a.
<br /> transaction, or in ai� appearar�ce in eoilnection with a transaction, involving that agency or render
<br /> any service on a contractual basis to or for such agency.
<br /> La. R.S. 42:1121B(1) provides that no former public employee shall, for a period oi�two years
<br /> � f�ollawing the terininatio�l of his public employment, assist another person, for co»�pensation, i�a a
<br /> transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transacti�i� in which such former pub�lic
<br /> employee participated at any tiine during his public employment and involving the �;overnmental
<br /> entity by which he was formerly employed, or for a period of two years following termination of
<br /> his public employment, render, any service wllich such former public employee had rendered to
<br /> the agency during the term of his public employment on a contractual basis, regardless of lhe
<br /> parties to the contract, to, for, or on behalf of the agency with whicll he was formerly employed.
<br /> La. R.S. 42:1121C provides that no legal entity in which a former public servant i� an ot7icer,
<br /> dircctor, trustee, partner, or employee shall, for a period of two years following the tet-mination of�
<br /> his public service, assist another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or in an appearance in
<br /> connectioil with a transaction in wllich such public servant at any time participated during his
<br /> public service and involving the agency by which he was formerly employed or in which he
<br /> for�nerly held oftice.
<br /> La. R.S. 42:1102(2)(a)(i) defines "agency" to mean a department, oifice, division, agei�lcy,
<br /> commission, board, coinanittee, or other organizational mlit of a governillental entity. "A�ency of�
<br /> the public servant" and"his agency"when used in reference to the agency of a�public servant shal I
<br /> inean, for public servants in the tweilty principal departments of the executive branch of� state
<br /> government, the office in which such public servant carries out his primary responsibilities.
<br /> La. R.S. 42:1102(3) deiines "agency head" to mean the chief executive or administi•ative oflicer
<br /> of ari agency or any member of a board or commission who exercises supervision over t11e agency.
<br /> La. R.S. 42:1102(4) defines "assist" to mean to act in such a way as to help, advise, furriish
<br /> information to, or aid a person with the intent to assist such person.
<br /> La. R.S. 42:1102(12) defines"governmental entity" to mean the state or any political subdivision
<br /> which employs the public employee or employed the former public employee or tc� whicfi the
<br /> elected of�ficial is elected, as the case may be.
<br /> La. R.S.42:1102(1_5)detines "participate" to mean to take part in or to 11ave or share responsibility
<br /> for action of a governmental entity or a proceeding, personally, as a public servant of thc
<br /> governmental entity, through approval, disapproval, decision, recommendation, the rendering of
<br /> advice, i�avestigatiori, or the failure to act or perform a duty.
