You own the following <br /> companies: Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. ("IFS") and Allied Benefits Solutions, LLC. <br /> ("ABS"). These companies represent several political subdivisions for their employee benefits <br /> programs and insurance needs. These companies are contracted as independent contractors and the <br /> professional services offered are classified as insurance/professional services that are not subject <br /> to the state bid laws.Further,the companies receive a commission or a consulting fee for providing <br /> these professional services. <br /> LAW <br /> La.R.S.42:1113C prohibits a legislator,member of his immediate family, or legal entity in which <br /> he has a controlling interest from bidding on, entering into,or have a substantial economic interest <br /> in any contract, subcontract, or other transaction involving the legislator's agency. <br /> La. R.S. 42:1113D prohibits a legislator, or the spouse of such person or any legal entity of a <br /> person from entering into any contract with state government. <br /> La.
