In this particular situation, it is the conclusion of the Board that the interest of the <br />public would be served by, and the parties have agreed to resolving this matter amicably through <br />the publication of this Consent Opinion with the imposition of a $1,500 civil penalty against <br />Gordon Atwell and the imposition of a $1,500 civil penalty against Ashley van der Meulen. <br />VI. <br />ORDER: <br />For the foregoing reasons: <br />IT IS ORDERED that each of Gordon Atwell and Ashley van der Meulen, in their <br />capacities as members of the LSBHI violated Section 1111 C(2)(d) of the Ethics Code by virtue of <br />receiving compensation for providing continuing education services to persons who conduct <br />operations or activities which are regulated by the LSBHI. <br />IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that each of Gordon Atwell and Ashley van der Meulen, <br />in their capacities as members of the LSBHI, violated Section 1113B of the Ethics Code virtue of <br />his application to the LSBHI for approval to be a continuing education provider. <br />IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a $1,500 civil penalty, payable to the Treasurer of the <br />State of Louisiana, be imposed upon Gordon Atwell and that in the event of a failure to pay, a suit <br />may be filed to compel immediate payment of any balance due. <br />IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a $1,500 civil penalty, payable to the Treasurer of the <br />State of Louisiana, be imposed upon Ashley van der Meulen and that in the event of a failure to <br />pay, a suit may be filed to compel immediate payment of any balance due. <br />
