20. <br /> If called to testify, Ms. Brumfield would state that her involvement with the Drug Court <br /> Program during these times was with the full consent, approval,and authorization of the Louisiana <br /> Supreme Court,with said approval being obtained by the Chief Judge of the Court. However,Ms. <br /> Brumfield enters into this Consent Order to bring this matter to a close and to avoid the expense of <br /> time and resources that would be incurred in contesting these allegations. <br /> 21. <br /> La. R.S. 42:1112B(1)provides that no public servant, except as provided in R.S. 42:1120, <br /> shall participate in a transaction involving the governmental entity in which,to her actual knowledge, <br /> any member of her immediate family has a substantial economic interest. <br /> 22. <br /> La. R.S. 42:1102(19) defines"public servant" as a public employee or an elected official. <br /> 23. <br /> La.R.S.42:1102(13)defines"immediate family"to include apublic servant's children,the <br /> spouses of his children,his brothers and their spouses,his sisters and their spouses,his parents,his <br /> spouse, and the parents of his spouse. <br /> 24. <br /> La.R.S.42:1102(21)defines"substantial economic interest" as an economic interest which <br /> is of greater benefit to the public servant or other person than to a general class or group of persons, <br /> except: <br /> (a) The interest that the public servant has in her position,office,rank,salary, per diem, <br /> or other matter arising solely from her public employment or office. <br /> Page 5 of 9 <br />
