I <br /> am the Mayor." <br /> 6. <br /> Chief Johnson arrived on the scene and was advised that Kenneth Pickett, Jr. was being placed <br /> under arrest for violation of a protective order and domestic abuse battery. Chief Johnson asked <br /> Mayor Pickett what was the nroblem. Mayor Pickett pointed his finger in Chief Johnson's face <br /> and stated,"I am not stopping you from doing your job. I sign your checks." Mayor Pickett then <br /> ordered the patrolman to release his son, he was the Mayor and he signs his paychecks. <br /> 7. <br /> Kenneth Pickett, Jr. was arrested for domestic abuse battery. On September 28, 2023, <br /> Kenneth Pickett, Jr. pled guilty to the reduced charge of simple battery and sentenced to 6 months <br /> in the Avoyelles Parish Jail. <br /> 8. <br /> On November 16, 2023, Mayor Pickett was indicted for an offense of`Interfering with a <br /> Law Enforcement Investigation," in that he intentionally interfered or obstructed a law <br /> er.forcement officer from c+�n�ducting investigative ��ork at� the crune scen� by attenxpting to <br /> prevent the arrest of his son physically, and threats to the arresting officer. <br /> 9. <br /> On July 25,2024,Mayor Pickett pled guilty and was sentenced to 30 days in the Avoyelles <br /> Parish Jail with credit for time served since May 17, 2023. The court suspended the execution of <br /> the sentence, and place Mayor Pickett on supervised probation for one year. The special <br /> conditions of his probation were that he pay a $500 fine, and $270 in court costs. Mayor Pickett <br />
